Judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) have issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant, as well as a Hamas military commander. A pre-trial chamber had rejected Israeli challenges to the court’s jurisdiction and issued warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Galant, a statement said. A warrant was also issued for Mohammed Deif, although the Israeli military said he was killed in an airstrike in Gaza in July.
It found that there were “reasonable grounds” to believe that the three men bear “criminal responsibility” for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity during the war between Israel and Hamas. Both Israel and Hamas have rejected the allegations.
