Hyderabad
The stand of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has become more clear regarding the demand of changing the name of Hyderabad to Bhagyanagar. The RSS has described this change as part of the restoration of India’s cultural identity. The four-day long Lokmanthan program organized by Pragya Pravah, the cultural wing of the Sangh, is an important step in this direction. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Kishan Reddy have already advocated the name Bhagyanagar. Now with this step of RSS, the debate on changing the name has become more intense.
President Draupadi Murmu will inaugurate the program
National coordinator of Pragya Pravah J. Nandkumar said, “For us this city has always been and will always be a Bhagyanagar metropolis. The name comes from the city’s famous Bhagyalakshmi temple. It is a symbol of India’s cultural and historical identity.” In all the invitation letters and posters of Lokmanthan, Hyderabad has been described as Bhagyanagar. The event will be inaugurated by President Draupadi Murmu and will also be attended by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
According to the report, Lokmanthan is a platform where artists, intellectuals and educationists from across the country come together to brainstorm on the cultural challenges of India. The theme of this year’s event is Lokavlokan, which examines Indian traditions and ethos in depth. In this programme, three dimensions like public thought, public behavior and public system will be discussed. The event will also include representatives from countries like Lithuania, Armenia, Indonesia and Russia.
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy also invited
According to the RSS, Lokmanthan aims to refute colonial ideologies that tried to divide Indian society. The association says that this program is an attempt to revive the cultural unity and traditions of India. Chairman of the program committee and Union Minister Kishan Reddy called it an opportunity to understand the common cultural heritage of India. However, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has expressed his inability to attend the event due to his busy schedule.
Through Lokmanthan, RSS defined Hindutva beyond religious boundaries and presented it as a cultural and inclusive tradition. A senior Sangh official said, “Hindutva never supports any particular method of worship. This is an ancient tradition that connects everyone.”
