The future of the Champions Trophy is being discussed in the cricket world including neighboring country Pakistan. Preparations have been completed in Pakistan, but it is not yet decided whether the event will be held without India or India will be allowed to play on the hybrid model. A large section in Pakistan is criticizing India for not sending its team.
There is a situation of conflict between India and Pakistan Cricket Board regarding the Champions Trophy to be held early next year. Meanwhile, there is news that ICC may release the schedule of Champions Trophy this week.
As per the situation so far, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refused to send its team to Pakistan citing security reasons. India has proposed a hybrid model, which has been rejected by Pakistan.
Meaning of release of schedule
- There is an atmosphere of happiness in Pakistan after the news of the release of the schedule. In fact, amid the dispute between BCCI and PCB, there was also a fear that the event might be shifted out of Pakistan.
- Now if ICC is going to release the schedule, it means that the event will be held in Pakistan. However, there is still doubt whether the Indian team will participate or not.
- The release of the schedule also means that somewhere an agreement has been reached between BCCI and PCB. Because without this it is not possible to release the schedule.
- It is also possible that the Indian team may not play the Champions Trophy. In this situation, the event can be organized by including some other team in the bridge instead of India. Although this possibility is less.
Shoaib Akhtar hopes BCCI will take a U-turn
Meanwhile, former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has expressed hope that BCCI will reconsider its decision of not sending its team to Pakistan, change its decision and the team will come to play Pakistan.
However, Shoaib has also expressed apprehension over the loss that would occur if the Indian team does not come. Shoaib Akhtar ruled out the possibility of India pulling out of the tournament citing sponsors and said that BCCI and PCB will find a way out of the issue.
According to Shoaib Akhtar, ‘Back channel talks will take place. Even during war days, back channel negotiations take place. We should not lose hope. We have to wait for the solution.
Shoaib Akhtar gave a serious warning to both the PCB and the International Cricket Council (ICC), reminding them that without India they would have lost $100 million (approximately Rs 844 crore).
