An unexpected incident that took place on Sunday night in the hostel of Government GNM Nursing Institute located in Kondagaon, Chhattisgarh has raised serious questions regarding the safety of girl students. In the dark of night, a young man entered the hostel and started misbehaving with the girl students present there. As soon as the information was received, the police caught the accused youth. It is being told that the youth used to steal undergarments of girl students in the hostel.
According to the girl students, when the youth entered the hostel premises on Sunday night, he went in front of their room and started knocking on the door. Initially the girls were scared, but when the young man kept knocking on the door, they showed courage and came out and protested. After this the young man started misbehaving with them. The girl students immediately contacted the hostel management and caught the youth. Police reached the spot and arrested the accused and took him to the police station.
According to the information received, more than 80 girl students live in the hostel, but only one watchman is deployed for security, while the hostel warden was on leave and at this time the responsibility of the hostel was with the staff nurse.
Anita Soni, Principal of GNM Nursing Institute, said that this incident happened at night, when only the watchman was posted in the hostel. He told that an application has been given to the department demanding deployment of female policemen, but the department says that at present women policemen are not available.
Kondagaon police station in-charge Saurabh Upadhyay said that during interrogation the accused youth Rahul Netam (19 years) told that he had entered the hostel by mistake. The police is taking completely proper action.
