Indian captain Rohit Sharma is likely out of the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rohit Sharma has not yet left India for the first Test match starting from 22nd November in Perth. He has become a father for the second time and is in Mumbai with his daughter Samaira, wife Ritika Sajdeh and newborn son. All kinds of reactions are coming regarding Rohit Sharma’s withdrawal from the first test. Meanwhile, former Australia captain Michael Clarke has supported Rohit Sharma’s decision and said that Test matches will come and go, but some things come only once in your life.
Captain Michael Clarke, who led Australia to win the ODI World Cup in 2015, has said that the experience of becoming a father gives more happiness than winning the World Cup. He said this on the basis of his personal experience. “The happiest day of my life was when my daughter was born,” he said on RevSportz. More than a Test match or a win or even the World Cup, you can’t link it to anything else. Family comes first, Test matches will happen again, but this is a very different moment.”
Clarke also admitted that Rohit Sharma will be missed as a batsman and captain in the Perth Test match, but he also said that if he had been in Rohit’s place, he would have taken the same decision and stayed with his family. He said, “Rohit Sharma will be missed in the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His leadership will also be missed, but I can tell you that if I were in his place, I would do the same thing.” Jasprit Bumrah will be the captain in the absence of Rohit Sharma and Rohit Sharma will join the team before the Pink Ball Test match. Before this they will also play a two-day warm-up match.
