Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Italian counterpart Georgia Meloni acknowledged the importance of the India-Italy strategic partnership during the G-20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During the bilateral meeting, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that the two leaders agreed to strengthen their cooperation. According to the statement, the two leaders outlined a Joint Strategic Action Plan as well as a series of time-sensitive initiatives to advance the Rome-New Delhi partnership. Prime Minister Modi’s talks with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni focused on enhancing partnership between the two countries in several important areas.
The Prime Minister elaborated, “I was pleased to meet Prime Minister Georgia Meloni during the Rio de Janeiro G-20 Summit. Our talks focused on strengthening ties in defence, security, trade and technology. We also talked about increasing cooperation in culture, education and other such areas. India-Italy friendship can make an important contribution in building a better world.”
Italian Prime Minister Meloni also posted on X, “It is always a great pleasure to meet the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. We also met on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in Rio de Janeiro.” PM Maloney further said, “This conversation was a precious opportunity, which allowed us to jointly announce a Joint Strategic Action Plan for 2025-29 in key areas such as trade and investment, science-technology, clean energy, space, defence, connectivity. “Allowed us to reaffirm our shared commitment to advance the India-Italy strategic partnership.”
“We agreed to continue working together to deepen our bilateral partnership for the benefit of the economies and citizens of both countries and in support of the shared values of democracy, rule of law, and development,” the Italian Prime Minister said.
