Strengthening and comprehensive health services in Madhya Pradesh is the top priority of the state government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to make the country self-reliant and strong India. To realize the vision of Prime Minister Modi, the state government is continuously working to provide accessible and advanced medical services to every citizen. In this direction, the state will move towards creating another history on November 21, when Chief Minister Dr. Yadav will perform the Bhoomi Pujan of Ujjain Medical College. This college will provide new dimensions to the health services of the state. Chief Minister Yadav said that keeping in mind the requirements of Simhastha-2028, this project will be completed on priority. With this, high quality medical services will be available to the patients of Ujjain and surrounding districts.
CM Mohan Yadav will perform Bhoomi Pujan on this day
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will perform the Bhoomi Pujan of the Medical College in Ujjain on 21st November. A teaching hospital with a capacity of 550 beds will be built in this medical college and there will be provision for 100 MBBS seats. Keeping in view Simhastha-2028, the Chief Minister has assured to complete this project on priority. With the construction of a medical college, the students of Ujjain will get better opportunities for medical education, and health services will also improve in this area. This step will prove important in the development of Ujjain.
It has been told that till the year 2003, there were only 5 government medical colleges in the state, which has now increased to 17. MBBS seats in the state have also increased from 720 to 2,575. Along with under construction medical colleges at Sheopur, Singrauli, Mandla and Rajgarh, self-financed medical colleges are being established at Chhatarpur, Damoh and Budhni. Apart from this, the process of opening medical colleges under the public participation policy is going on in 12 other districts.
The Chief Minister said that the establishment of 20 new medical colleges will increase the MBBS seats by more than 2,000. Along with increasing the bed capacity of hospitals in Bhopal and Gwalior to 2,500, superspeciality hospitals are being operated in Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Rewa. He also said that schemes like School of Excellence in Pulmonary Medicine in Jabalpur and School of Excellence for Eye in Indore are making the state a leader in the medical field.
Medical college will be built at a cost of Rs 592 crore
Ujjain Medical College will be built on 14.97 acres of land. Its construction area will be spread over 1 lakh 42 thousand 34 square meters and the total cost is Rs 592.3 crore. It will use modern technology for fire safety, LED lighting for energy efficiency, solar power, and energy-efficient HVAC systems. Sewage treatment plant will also be installed for rain water harvesting and re-use of waste water. The medical college will also have facilities of foot over bridge, library building, service block, MGPS block and ESS block.
550 bedded modern teaching hospital
Ujjain Medical College will have a teaching hospital with a capacity of 550 beds. This hospital will be equipped with services like emergency services, pharmacy, radiology, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, general and super specialty OPD. The hospital will also have 11 modular operation theatres, 1 cath lab, and 2 endoscopy units along with a nuclear medicine department and 2 radiotherapy bunkers (brachytherapy and CT simulator). There will also be arrangements for a cafeteria for doctors, staff, and the public. The construction work will be done by Madhya Pradesh Building Development Corporation.
Intake capacity of 100 MBBS seats
Ujjain Medical College will have an intake capacity of 100 seats for MBBS. There will be 4 state-of-the-art lecture theaters (capacity 180 each) and 2 examination halls (capacity 250 each). Central library, teaching and faculty areas, laboratories, skill training centres, administrative buildings, common rooms and recreational facilities will also be available. The 380-seat hostel for nursing students will also have stilt parking, common room, recreation area, dining hall and kitchen facilities.
Hostel for UG and intern students
Ujjain Medical College will have a hostel for boys with a capacity of 329 UG and 70 interns and a hostel for girls with a capacity of 286 UG and 58 interns. These will have stilt parking, common rooms, entertainment areas and dining facilities. RDH hostel with a capacity of 145 students will be equipped with facilities like gym, dining hall and stilt parking.
