Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that strengthening and comprehensive health services in Madhya Pradesh is the top priority of the state government. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi believes that the foundation of self-reliant and strong India will be strengthened only by healthy citizens. To realize the vision of Prime Minister Shri Modi, the state government is continuously working to provide accessible and advanced medical services to every citizen. In this direction, the state is moving towards creating another history on November 21 when Chief Minister Dr. Yadav will perform the Bhoomi Pujan of Ujjain Medical College, which will provide new dimensions to the health services of the state. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the project will be completed on priority keeping in mind the requirements of Simhastha-2028. With this, high quality medical services will be provided to the patients of Ujjain and surrounding districts.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that till the year 2003, there were only 5 government medical colleges in the state, which has now increased to 17. MBBS in the state. Seats have also increased from 720 to 2,575. Along with medical colleges under construction in Sheopur, Singrauli, Mandla and Rajgarh, medical colleges are being established in Chhatarpur, Damoh and Budhni with self-financed grants. Besides, the process of opening medical colleges under the public participation policy is going on in 12 other districts. The Chief Minister said that with the establishment of 20 new medical colleges, M.B.B.S. Seats will increase by more than 2,000. Along with increasing the hospital bed capacity to 2,500 in Bhopal and Gwalior, superspeciality hospitals are being operated in Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Rewa. He said that schemes like School of Excellence in Pulmonary Medicine in Jabalpur and School of Excellence for Eye in Indore are making the state a leader in the medical field.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that to promote nursing and paramedical education, nursing colleges are being established in 14 medical colleges. At present 24 government nursing colleges are running, which will soon increase to 37. About 25,000 students are getting education in 250 paramedical colleges in the state. Along with this, Madhya Pradesh is the only state in the country where medical education has been started in Hindi. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the community health centers of the state are being equipped with advanced medical facilities, so that they can provide high quality health services at par with the district hospitals. With this, more than 30,000 medical and paramedical posts will be recruited as per the standards of Indian Public Health Standard (IPHS). He said that building a self-reliant Madhya Pradesh is possible only with healthy citizens.

Medical college will be constructed at a cost of Rs 592 crore.
Ujjain Medical College will be built on 14.97 acres of land. The construction area provisioned is 1 lakh 42 thousand 34 square meters. Its total cost is Rs 592.3 crore. It uses modern technologies for fire safety, LED lighting for energy efficiency, solar power and energy-efficient HVAC systems. Provision for rain water harvesting and re-use of waste water along with sewage treatment plant has also been made. The Medical College includes facilities like Foot Over Bridge, Library Building, Service Block, MGPS Block and ESS Block.

550 bedded modern teaching hospital
Ujjain Medical College Teaching Hospital has a capacity of 550 beds. The hospital is equipped with services like 24×7 emergency services, pharmacy, radiology (CT, MRI, X-RAY, fluoroscopy, ultrasound), general and super specialty OPD. 550 IPD in the hospital. 70 beds, 11 modular operation theatres, 1 cath lab and 2 endoscopy units are available for ICU and CCU. Apart from this, advanced facilities like Nuclear Medicine Department and 2 Radiotherapy Bunkers (Brachytherapy and CT Simulator) are also provided. There is also a cafeteria arrangement for doctors, staff and public. The construction work will be done by Madhya Pradesh Building Development Corporation.

100 M.B.B.S. seat penetration capacity
The intake capacity of MBBS students in Ujjain Medical College is 100. The medical college will have 4 state-of-the-art lecture theaters (capacity 180 each) and 2 examination halls (capacity 250 each). There will also be administrative buildings, common rooms and recreational facilities along with a central library, teaching and faculty areas, laboratories and skill training centres. There is provision of hostel facility for 380 nursing students. It has facilities like stilt parking, common room, recreation area, dining hall and kitchen.

Hostel for UG and Intern Boys and Girls
Ujjain Medical College will have a hostel with a capacity of 329 UG and 70 interns for boys and 286 UG and 58 interns for girl students. These will have stilt parking, common room, entertainment area and dining facilities. RDH hostel with a capacity of 145 students will be equipped with facilities like gym, dining hall and stilt parking.
