Amid increasing pollution in Haryana, the Nayab government has decided to close schools up to class 5. The government has ordered temporary closure of schools up to class 5. In this regard, a letter has been written by the Directorate of School Education to all the District Deputy Commissioners.
Classes will run online
According to the letter, the government has decided that the concerned Deputy Commissioner will assess the prevailing situation (as per GRAP) in view of the severe AQI levels in Delhi and surrounding areas and in the interest of health and safety of students in schools (government and private). Issue necessary guidelines for conducting online classes up to class 5th. The rural and urban areas of the respective districts can be evaluated separately.
The cities of the state are wrapped in a blanket of smog. There has been smog continuously for five days. Delhi’s air is the worst among 22 cities of the country. Delhi’s AQI reached 396 while the AQI of eight cities of Haryana is in the worse category. Bhiwani remained the most polluted in the state. Even two days ago the air in this city was worse. With the rapid increase in smog in the state, accidents are also increasing. Despite the rapid increase in the number of cities in the worst category, concrete steps have not been taken to reduce pollution. Apart from Bhiwani in Haryana, the air of Bahadurgarh, Sonipat, Jind, Rohtak, Kaithal, Karnal, Gurugram is in the worst category, while the AQI of 10 cities has reached between 200 to 300. Yellow smog alert in these cities: Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Rohtak, Sonipat, Panipat, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Bhiwani.
Online classes will also run in Delhi schools
On the other hand, the situation in Delhi-NCR is also bad due to pollution. Due to increasing pollution, Delhi government has also announced to keep primary schools of Delhi closed and run classes in online mode.
At present, the way air pollution is increasing in the northern areas. This is why governments are deciding to keep schools closed. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi wrote in a post on X platform on Thursday evening that due to increasing pollution levels, all primary schools of Delhi should start classes through online medium till further instructions.
