To make cities slum free, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has implemented Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 2.0. This work will be done by combining other schemes. For this, the Madhya Pradesh government will prepare and implement an affordable housing policy. Under this policy, land will be made available at affordable rates for building houses. Less than one percent stamp duty will be charged for houses registered under the scheme. Transferable Development Rights (TDR) facility will not be included in the overall Floor Area Ratio (FAR) of the project in the built up area for Economically Weaker Section and Low Income Group.
Time is till 31st December
Officials of the Urban Development and Housing Department say that to implement the scheme, the state will have to send consent to the Central Government before December 31, 2024. Also, other reforms will have to be fully implemented by June 30, 2025. In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on November 12, it was told that the state government is sending consent to the scheme. The target has been set that one million houses should be constructed in the state through this scheme in five years.
Subsidy of Rs 2.5 lakh will continue
The grant of Rs 2.5 lakh being given for construction of houses on one’s own land will be continued. Madhya Pradesh has been at first or second position in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban from 2015 to 2023. Till now, 9.5 lakh beneficiaries have benefited from it. Now work will be done simultaneously at three levels to free the cities from slums and meet the housing requirement. In this, one percent or less stamp or registration fee will be charged for houses (up to 60 square meters) registered under Pradhan Mantri Awas Urban. Beneficiaries who do not have land for housing construction will be given leases at affordable rates.
They will get priority in the scheme
In the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, priority will be given to those persons who do not have permanent residence anywhere.
Persons with annual income up to Rs 9 lakh and who have availed benefits in any housing scheme of the state or central government will be ineligible for the scheme.
Kalyani (widow), disabled, senior citizens, transgender, scheduled caste-tribe and minority class, sanitation workers, street vendors, artisans of PM Vishwakarma Yojana, Anganwadi workers, construction workers, families living in slums will get priority.
Such persons, whose annual income is up to Rs 3 lakh and have their own plot, will be provided assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh through the Central and State Government to build a house.
This amount will be payable in three installments. Similarly, in the project of government or private agency, economically weaker sections will be provided flats of 30 to 45 square meters.
For this also, the central and state governments together will provide assistance up to Rs 2.5 lakh.
