Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that all the saints and devotees should get the good fortune of taking the holy bath of Mother Kshipra throughout the year. For this, store the original water of Kshipra river during the rainy season. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the meeting of the Major Project Control Board at Samatva Bhawan located at the Chief Minister’s residence. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that bathing in Kshipra river has special religious significance. Before the start of Simhastha, the construction work of Sewarkhedi-Silarkhedi Irrigation Project should be completed. Special care should be taken to ensure complete supply of drinking water to the people of Ujjain. Plan another source for water supply in Vikram Udyogpuri. Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister and Water Resources and Narmada Valley Development Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Principal Secretary Finance Manish Rastogi and related officers were present in the meeting.
It is noteworthy that the Sewarkhedi-Silarkhedi Irrigation Project is being constructed to keep the Kshipra river flowing continuously. Under the project, a dam will be built in village Sevarkhedi at a cost of Rs 614 crore 53 lakh, in which the water of Kshipra river during the rainy season will be lifted and stored in the Silarkhedi pond located in village Silarkhedi. The water collected from Silarkhedi pond will be re-flowed into Kshipra river after the rainy season.
