The team of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Raipur has arrested Saja SDM and Deputy Collector of Bemetra district for taking a bribe of Rs 10 thousand. Along with the bribe-taking SDM, a Home Guard constable has also been arrested, who was the mediator between the victim and the SDM.
By late last night the ACB team completed the documentation process. Today on Friday, both the accused will be presented in Bemetra District Court. When the ACB team arrested the accused SDM Tekram Maheshwari, people here celebrated by bursting crackers.
People say that it had become common for SDMs to take money in return for work. He has also been involved in many controversies. Last month in October, the students of Saja Government College were sitting on strike demanding arrangements. During this time, SDM Tekram Maheshwari had come to pacify them, while talking to the college students, he became enraged and started using abusive language in front of the girl students sitting on dharna. Then his video also went viral.
Apart from this, due to negligence in work, the collector had also served him a show cause notice this month. It is being told that the accused SDM Tekram Maheshwari is a State Administrative Service officer. He has been promoted and became Deputy Collector. Three months ago, Bemetara Collector Ranbir Sharma has given him the responsibility of Saja SDM.
