The festival of paddy procurement has started from today in Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai launched this campaign from Bhanthagaon center of Balod district. Paddy will be purchased from registered farmers at 2,739 centers in the state from November 14 to January 31, 2025. Farmers will be paid for their sold paddy into their bank accounts within 72 hours. This year 1.35 lakh new farmers have been registered.
The festival of paddy procurement has started in Chhattisgarh from today. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai started this great festival from the paddy procurement center located in Bhanthagaon (B) of Balod district. From November 14 to January 31, 2025, paddy will be purchased from farmers across the state at support price. On this occasion, the Chief Minister reached the center and worshiped the electronic weighing machine and other equipment and welcomed the farmers present there by garlanding them.
Congratulating and best wishes to the farmers on this occasion, Chief Minister Sai said that this great festival is a symbol of the hard work of the farmers and the commitment of the state government. A glimpse of satisfaction was visible on the faces of the farmers. Farmer Bhagbali of village Bhanthagaon sold 148 quintals and Hariram sold 65 quintals of 20 kg paddy. Both the farmers looked very happy after getting the opportunity to sell paddy in the presence of the Chief Minister.
Tokens of a total of 6 farmers were deducted on the first day at this procurement centre, due to which the work of purchasing paddy started smoothly. Apart from this, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the new branch of District Service Cooperative Bank constructed at a cost of Rs 30 lakh in village Mohandipat of Gundardehi development block. The program started with garlanding and lighting of lamps on the oil paintings of Chhattisgarh Mahtari, Shaheed Birsa Munda and Gahira Guru.
Guarantee of payment to farmers within 72 hours
Paddy will be purchased from registered farmers in the state till January 31, 2025. The government has ensured that farmers will be paid for their crops in their bank accounts within 72 hours. This time a total of 2,739 paddy procurement centers have been established in the state.
This season, 27,01,109 registered farmers have sown paddy on 34,51,729 hectares of land, out of which 1,35,891 farmers are newly registered. This initiative of the government is an important step towards providing economic support to the farmers, which will also strengthen the agricultural economy of the state.
