America’s new President Donald Trump has appointed former MP Tulsi Gabbard as the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) in his government. Tulsi Gabbard is the first Hindu woman member of the US Congress. She has been criticizing the atrocities against Hindus and other minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh. Gabbard’s mother was born in America. He adopted Hindu religion. Tulsi Gabbard was brought up according to Hindu beliefs. He is a vegetarian by birth and at the time of joining Congress, he took oath on Bhagavad Gita.

In 2021, Tulsi Gabbard introduced a resolution in the US Congress, demanding protection of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. He had raised his voice against the atrocities against Hindus. In the resolution, Gabbard strongly condemned the atrocities committed by the Pakistan Army against the Hindu community in Bangladesh in 1971. Gabbard said that 50 years ago, Pakistan’s army had driven Bengali Hindus from their homes in Bangladesh, killing about three million of them. He had also said that the Pakistan Army deliberately targeted Hindus.

on Pakistan’s help
In 2017, Tulsi Gabbard had criticized Pakistan for giving shelter to terrorists who attacked India. He said that Pakistan is continuously providing safe haven to terrorists in India, Afghanistan and other countries. Gabbard tried in Congress to cut US military aid to Pakistan and supported putting pressure on Pakistan to stop its promotion of terrorism. He said, “I have tried in Congress to reduce US military aid to Pakistan and have talked about increasing pressure on Pakistan so that Pakistan breaks its terrorist ties.”

Concern over violence against Hindus in India
Gabbard expressed concern over increasing violence against Indian minorities, particularly Hindu, Sikh and other religious and ethnic groups. He said, “The recent increase in violence against Hindus, Sikhs and other religious minorities in India is a matter of grave concern. We will continue to work on this in Congress so that this issue can be raised at the national and international level.”

Donald Trump also raised the issue of violence against Hindus and other religious minorities in Bangladesh during the election campaign. He expressed concern after the ouster of Sheikh Hasina from power and the student movements. Trump raised his voice for resolution of this issue and strongly condemned the violence against minorities in Bangladesh.
