Raipur.
The election for Raipur South Assembly seat is finally over. In this election which was fought without any concrete issue, out of 2 lakh 73 thousand voters of the area, according to 51 percent voting, more than 1 lakh 25 thousand people did not go to vote. Now analysts are busy assessing what will be the result of this indifference of the voters.
This time there has been about 10 percent less voting compared to the 2023 assembly elections. In the 2023 assembly elections, 60.20 percent voting took place in Raipur South. Whereas in the 2018 assembly elections, there was 61.70 percent voting. In these elections, women voters showed more enthusiasm than men. During the by-elections, since the number of women voters in the assembly constituency was 25 thousand more than men, it is being estimated that this time too women will exercise their franchise in large numbers. But strong participation of women was not seen, while men or first time voters also did not show interest in voting. Experts believe that a major reason behind voters not reaching the booth is the lack of impact of this election on the picture of the assembly. Because of this election, neither BJP is going from power, nor is Congress coming back to power. Apart from this, experts believe that the candidates also failed to generate enthusiasm among the voters. At the same time, the parties also could not raise any such issue which would make the voters eager to go to the polling stations. Experts believe that even if this result does not have any significant role in changing the picture of the assembly, the counting of votes among the issue-less candidates and parties will definitely generate interest. Due to less voting, the difference in votes will also be less, and if this figure decreases from thousand to hundred, then a new storm will arise. Well, whatever the result, BJP and Congress will definitely get a new issue to attack each other.
