The 24th World Karate Cup competition was held at Padma Indoor Stadium in Goa city. In this competition, along with India, other countries like Italy, Brazil, Canada, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, America, Kazakhstan, UAE, Portugal, Kenya, Malaysia, Dubai, Bangladesh, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Kyrgyzstan, Japan, Karate players from countries like England, Iran, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Bhutan participated. In which 5 players of Sai Karate Academy from Gurgaon city of Haryana state also participated in this competition. These players have won silver and bronze medals. Coach Lucky Manidas, under the supervision of Shihan Sunil Saini, General Secretary of Gurgaon District and India’s team coach, boosted the morale of all the children.
According to coach Shihan Sunil Saini, some players also had to face injuries during the competition. The players forgot the pain of their injuries and maintained their passion to win medals. In the competition, 61 year old Geeta Godara has won silver and bronze medal in 80 kg weight category. 44-year-old Shalu won two silver medals in the 73 kg weight category. 30 year old Ajit Rana has won two bronze medals in 64 kg weight category, 12 year old Inesh Kumar Dalal has won silver and bronze medal in 38 kg weight category. Whereas 10 year old Parv Dhiman has won silver and bronze medals in 42 kg weight category.
All the officials and coaches of Sports Karate Do Association blessed the Vijay players. Officials said that all these world-winning players have brought glory to India. We are proud of all these players of ours who have now written the name of Gurgaon in golden letters in Delhi and Malaysia also.
