Igas Bagwal is celebrated in Uttarakhand after Diwali.
In the hilly region of Uttarakhand, a festival is celebrated exactly 11 days after Diwali, which is called Igas Bagwal. Igas Bagwal is not only a traditional festival of Uttarakhand, but is also a symbol of the folk culture of Uttarakhand. There is a very popular story behind celebrating Igas Bagwal in Uttarakhand. It is said that the news of Lord Shri Ram’s return to Ayodhya after his exile in Garhwal reached late and people in the mountains celebrated Diwali only then. This festival is considered the cultural heritage of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. Its second identity is also by the name of Budhi Diwali. The torch is the main center of attraction in the Igas festival. In this a torch made of pine wood is lit. Which is called Bhailo. During this time people enjoy songs and dance.
