Just as IPL is played in India, similarly BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) T20 league is played in India’s neighboring country Bangladesh. Some franchises of this league owe huge money to foreign players. Officials of the World Cricket Association or WCA have requested the leadership group of the Bangladesh Premier League to quickly resolve the issue of dues of foreign players. Many teams have outstanding dues to the players who participated in the last season of BPL.
According to a Cricbuzz report, the WCA, the global players’ body in cricket, which collectively represents players from most of the top cricket playing countries through the Domestic Players Association, has written to the board regarding the issue of non-payment of foreign players. Have already sent a letter to. WCA Chief Executive Officer Tom Moffatt has also confirmed the matter to Cricbuzz. Apart from this, BPL Governing Council Secretary Nazmul Abedin has also admitted that money is owed to the foreign players.
At least 15 cricketers who played in the last BPL season had complained about non-payment, amounting to around US$250,000 (about ₹ 2.10 crore), while one franchise, which played in the previous edition but did not play in this edition, Not participating, she is owed approximately US$100,000.
