America has given a befitting reply to the attack on its personnel by Iran-backed groups in the last 24 hours. Under this, 9 targets located at two places in Syria have been attacked. This information was given by the US Central Command. It said no American personnel were injured in the attacks. Till late evening, the Pentagon neither provided information about which sites the US attacked in Syria nor which sites the US targeted in return.
About 900 US personnel are deployed to Syria to assist allied forces in operations against Islamic State militants. In February it carried out a massive attack on Iran-backed militia targets in Syria in response to a drone strike in Jordan that killed three US soldiers. On October 7, large-scale attacks were carried out by Hamas in Israel. After this, Israel launched a major military operation in Gaza. Meanwhile, Iran-backed fighters allied with Hamas launched drone and rocket attacks on US military bases in Iraq and Syria.
Capacity of groups in the area weakened due to latest attacks
The US military said the latest attacks are expected to weaken the ability of groups in the region to plan and conduct operations against US and its allies’ forces. At the same time, dozens of people, including children, were killed in Israeli attacks in Lebanon and northern Gaza on Sunday. Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon kill at least 23 people, including 7 children in the village of Almat, north of Beirut. Lebanon’s health ministry said six other people were also injured. Before the attack, Israel did not give any warning to the people to leave the place.
