The Higher Education Department is going to take the help of technology to prevent delays in releasing examinations and results in state universities. The department has planned to conduct digital evaluation of copies of university examinations. It is being said that through this process the evaluation work will be completed in 15 days and results can be released in 20 days.
The Higher Education Department had used digital assessment in a minor examination in Devi Ahilya University, Indore last session. If the results are as expected, all the universities have been asked to prepare proposals for the same. This year the digital evaluation process is to start from Barkatullah University, Bhopal. Here the copies of about three thousand students will be checked.
From the next session it will be extended to the examinations of affiliated colleges. Other state universities of the state also have to develop their own system of digital evaluation by then. About 14 lakh students appear for examinations every year in eight state universities and 1323 colleges affiliated with them in the state.
Will scan the copy and send it to the examiner
Under the digital evaluation process, copies from all the examination centers will be submitted to the designated center. There the copies will be scanned and uploaded on a software. After registering the examiners on this software, they will be issued login and password. Only then will the examiners be able to open the copies. In this system, the examiner will not get information about which district, college or candidate the answer book belongs to. Along with evaluation, marks will also be given on the sheet.
Currently the evaluation process is like this
Answer sheets from the examination centers come to the university. Bundles are prepared in the confidential branch of the university. These bundles are sent to the nodal centers set up in government colleges of other districts. From here it is given to the appraiser. After checking, teachers submit it back to the same nodal centre. After evaluation, the nodal center sends it to the university. The results are collected subject wise in the university and sent to the computer center to prepare the results. This entire process takes about two to three months.
