A Fecal Sludge Management Unit has been set up in Parsada Ved Gram Panchayat under Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin at a cost of Rs 58 lakh, which will ensure safe disposal of septic tanks in rural and urban areas. Through this unit, the fecal sludge of 7,155 toilets built in 171 villages of Masturi will be transported here through sludge vehicles. The fee determined on the basis of distance will be charged through Gram Panchayat.
Health related problems will reduce.
Due to the unit, the cleanliness of water sources will increase and health related problems will reduce. In the first phase, the District Panchayat had constructed about 7,155 toilets in 171 villages under Masturi development block under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Earlier, there was no special facility available to regularly dispose of the fecal sludge coming out of the septic tanks of these toilets, due to which the villagers had to face difficulties. Now this problem will be solved with the installation of Fecal Sludge Management Unit.
Urban areas will also get relief
The establishment of the unit will provide relief to the residents of rural areas as well as urban areas. Fecal sludge from septic tanks under Bilaspur Municipal Corporation can also be brought to this unit for disposal. Municipal Corporation and District Panchayat have also signed OMU for this.
According to officials, the unit will not only ensure cleanliness of toilets but will also help in preventing pollution of water sources. Also, proper disposal of sludge will improve the sanitary conditions in the surrounding areas and reduce diseases caused by the spread of filth.

This fecal sludge management unit built under the Swachh Bharat Mission is an important step towards ensuring cleanliness in both rural and urban areas. This will provide solution to the problems faced by villagers and urban residents in cleaning septic tanks of toilets and will ensure proper maintenance of toilets. The unit will scientifically dispose of fecal sludge, which will have a positive impact on health and environment.
Fertilizer will be produced from fecal sludge
The fecal sludge will be disposed of scientifically from the fecal sludge management unit built under the Swachh Bharat Mission in Parsada Ved and fertilizer will be manufactured from it. This unit will be operated through self-help groups and the fertilizer made from fecal sludge will be made available for sale in the market. Using the income from fertilizer sales, further plans will be prepared to set up more units.
