Indore Lokayukta Police team has caught accountant Manoj Kumar Bairagi in Gandhwani of Dhar district while taking a bribe of Rs 40 thousand. The Sarpanch representative of Balwari Kala Panchayat had complained about the accountant demanding bribe in the construction of CC Road. After this complaint, Lokayukta police took this action on Saturday.
Taking strict action against corruption on the instructions of Director General of Police, Lokayukta Jaideep Prasad, Indore Lokayukta unit carried out a major trap action. In this, at around 1 pm on Saturday, Accountant of District Panchayat Office Gandhwani, Manoj Kumar Bairagi, was caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 40 thousand.
Sarpanch representative of Gram Panchayat Balwari Kala, Gulab Singh Ajnare had lodged a complaint in this matter. According to him, the construction work of CC Road was being done by the Panchayat at a cost of Rs 10 lakh. As its first installment, an amount of Rs 3,00,000 had been released into the Panchayat’s account.

For the remaining amount of this project which was to be released on the basis of final evaluation, Accountant Manoj Bairagi had to prepare a demand letter and send it to the District Panchayat Office. It is alleged that accountant Manoj Bairagi demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 from Sarpanch representative Gulab Singh Ajnare in exchange for sending this demand letter to the District Panchayat office.
Complaint was made to SP Lokayukta
The applicant had complained in this regard to Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta Rajesh Sahay. During verification of the complaint, this transaction was found to be fixed in conversation and a consent letter for paying bribe of Rs 50,000 was obtained.
Lokayukta police team is investigating. On Saturday, Accountant of District Panchayat Gandhwani Manoj Kumar Bairagi was arrested red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 40,000 in his office room. Action is being taken against him under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 2018. Further investigation is underway.
