Prashu Gupta, founder of My Farm Natural, said that he is doing organic farming in 265 acres, which includes mustard, chia seeds, six varieties of paddy and fruits. He is preparing various food products through processing units in five different farms, which is earning him good income.
Gupta says that nowadays people are becoming conscious about health and environment, due to which the demand for herbal and organic products is increasing. Being an agricultural state, now young entrepreneurs are getting attracted towards farming related startups, due to which farmers are also getting benefits.
Increasing awareness towards health
Kavita Dev, founder of Immuno Millet, a startup company of food products made from millet (coarse grains), says that there has been a lot of change in the diet of people in the last three-four years, especially after the Corona period. Now people are giving priority to such food items which are beneficial for taste as well as health.
Demand for coarse grains like ragi, jowar, millet has increased. These grains are being used in things like biscuits, laddu, itali, dosa, kheer, upma and cutlets. Millets protect the body from many diseases and help in keeping fit.
Startups growing due to change in lifestyle
Startup expert and entrepreneur Tushar Vadhera says that the market for organic products in Raipur and surrounding areas is worth crores of rupees. There is huge demand for these products in both offline and online medium. Grains, vegetables and fruits are mainly in demand in this market.
Apart from this, organic pulses, spices and dairy products are also becoming people’s choice. Changing lifestyle is the main reason for the birth of these startups. Now people are returning towards nature.
Farmers are getting benefits
Experts from agriculture-related startups say that farmers are benefiting from the increasing demand for herbal and organic products. Startup companies are purchasing their products directly from farmers, so that farmers do not have to wander in the market to sell their crops. Through this process, farmers are getting better prices and earning more profits. This is the reason why now farmers are paying more attention towards farming.
