Even at the government level, strict guidelines have been made to protect hospitals from fire, but most of the hospitals make ends meet by keeping fire extinguishers. For this reason, when fires break out in hospitals, they face difficulties in controlling them and often these fires go out of control. This has serious consequences. Now this situation will not happen in SIMS, District Hospital and Mother-Child Hospital.
All hospitals are very sensitive regarding fire. There is 24 hour high power supply. In such a situation, there are cases of fire in hospitals from time to time. Keeping these things in mind, if any incident like fire occurs in the future,
Government hospital equipped with modern fire system
So, to avoid that, concrete arrangements have been made in the city’s major government hospitals, SIMS (Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences), District Hospital and Mother-Child Hospital. These three hospitals have been equipped with modern fire systems. Now if any fire breaks out here, the fire system will automatically activate. Also, the work of extinguishing the fire will start as soon as the fire brigade personnel arrive.
Fire under control within minutes
If a fire occurs due to any reason, it can be brought under control within minutes, because under the modern fire system, sensor based fire system has been installed in every ward, corridor and the entire hospital building of these hospitals. The sprinkler is the most special in this. As soon as the fire starts, its sensor will be activated and the sprinkler will start raining water on the area where there is fire.
Along with this, fire safety box, fire extinguishing equipment, fixed pipeline along with fax valve pipeline, emergency exit door as well as water tank on the roof have been constructed. The water from this tank can be delivered to any corner of the hospital within just a minute. It is clear that level arrangements have been made regarding fire safety. In such a situation, now in case of fire, the fire can be controlled within minutes in these three hospitals.
Short circuit becomes the cause of fire
Short circuit is the main cause of fire in hospitals. When the power load increases, a short circuit occurs in the power panel and it becomes uncontrollable. Whenever there has been a fire incident in SIMS, the main reason behind it has been short circuit. In the past five years, there has been a fire in the gynecological ward and infant ICU here, which also went out of control. Only after these big incidents, efforts were made to improve the fire safety system and now it is equipped with modern fire safety.
Alarm system gives information in advance
An alarm system has also been installed to prevent fire. It is also equipped with sensors which automatically calculate the possibility of fire and activate the alarm system. This system keeps monitoring the power load. This system gets activated as soon as the load on the power line of any area increases. It alerts by sounding an alarm before a short circuit occurs, which is proving to be a milestone in preventing incidents like fire.
Attention will have to be paid towards private hospitals
There are 151 small and big private hospitals in the city. Some big hospitals have fire systems. Apart from these, negligence is being taken regarding fire system in most of the hospitals. Food supply is achieved simply by installing fire extinguishers. Although the Health Department has instructed these private hospitals to submit reports after conducting fire system audit, but even after this, most of the private hospitals are not following the instructions. In such a situation, there is a need to inspect these hospitals and get the fire safety features corrected.
