Indore, which was known for textile mills, is now going to become a hub for readymade garments. Two companies from Gujarat and Kolkata have shown interest in investing Rs 2500 crore in the PM Mitra (Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Park Project near Badnawar, 110 km from Indore.
One of these is Arvind Mill Company of Gujarat, which is preparing to set up a textile manufacturing unit. Representatives of the companies have also inspected the land, another Kolkata company will also set up a plant to manufacture hosiery garments for many big hosiery brands here.
Dependence on Mumbai and Surat will reduce
22 small and big companies from across the country including the state are also preparing to come here. Investment will reduce dependence on Mumbai and Surat. The work of PM Mitra Park has started in January this year, which is to be completed in the next two and a half years.
The cost of this park, spread over about two thousand acres, is approximately Rs 1600 crore. MPIDC Executive Director Rajesh Rathore said that the work of PM Mitra Park is going on at a fast pace. Work of approach road, water line etc. is being done.
Big companies are also going to visit
In the recent past, more than 22 small and big companies from Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan and the state have visited the park and shown interest in investment. Negotiations with some of these companies are in the final stages. Other big companies are also going to visit in the coming time.
25 thousand people will get employment
So far, more than 22 companies have visited PM Mitra. These companies are likely to invest more than Rs 9462 crore here, which will provide direct employment to more than 25 thousand people.
