Prime Minister Modi announced the inclusion of people above 70 years of age in the Ayushman scheme. The campaign to make cards for 34 lakh elderly people will start in Madhya Pradesh. Beneficiaries can register themselves or by visiting government hospitals.

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi started including all people above 70 years of age in the Ayushman Yojana this week, a campaign will be launched in Madhya Pradesh to make cards of all the beneficiaries. About 34 lakh people above 70 years of age in the state will be able to get the benefit of the scheme. Beneficiaries can make the card themselves on the Ayushman portal or can get it made by visiting the Ayushman center in any nearby government hospital.

Officials of Ayushman Bharat Scheme said that OTP comes during registration. Registration is done after entering the OTP. The Central Government has decided to include all the elderly above 70 years of age in the scheme and provide special benefits. With the launch of the scheme a week ago, registration has also started across the country.

The estimated number of people above 70 years of age in Madhya Pradesh is about 34 lakh. In this, along with the elderly people already included in the scheme, there are also people above 70 years of age who are under income tax.

Chief Medical and Health Officer of Bhopal, Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari said that so far about 250 people have been registered in the district. Similarly, the pace of registration is slow across the state, hence it has been decided to run a special campaign.

In fact, under the new provisions, the elderly are to be given an additional insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh per year under the scheme. Besides, they will also be given the benefit of special packages as per their old age. For this reason, it has been made mandatory to register even the elderly people already included in the scheme.

The estimated number of people above 70 years of age in the state is 34 lakh. Registration under the scheme has been started.
