According to the information received from the School Education Department, the Agriculture Faculty course is conducted in 18 government schools of the state. Under the National Education Policy, employment-oriented courses are going to be started in school education. This will benefit the students associated with agriculture in the state and they will not have to go to other cities for this.

Under the National Education Policy, the Faculty of Agriculture will be started in the government schools of the state from the next session, just like the Faculty of Arts, Science and Commerce is running. Similarly, now there will be Agriculture Faculty also. At present, Agriculture Faculty course is being run in 18 government schools of the state. It will start in about eight thousand higher secondary schools from the next session.

The School Education Department has instructed the faculty to design the curriculum to begin with. This course will be started in those schools which have one to one and a half bigha of land. Whereas, in the schools which do not have land for agriculture, agreements (MoU) will be made with the nearby farmers, so that the students can go there and do practicals.

Madhya Pradesh is considered an agricultural state. In view of this, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has given instructions that teaching of agriculture and related subjects like horticulture, fisheries, dairy, animal husbandry etc. should be started in government schools. To start this faculty at the school level, a task force of educationists, teachers, voluntary organizations and subject experts has been formed.

Proposals have been sought from schools

The School Education Department has started preparations to start agriculture and related subjects in about eight thousand higher secondary schools from the upcoming academic session. All districts have been asked to identify schools. In this, priority will be given to those schools which have one to one and a half bigha of land. If there is a school where this subject has to be started, but does not have its own land. There, contracts will be signed with the farmers around the school.

Agriculture subject teachers will also be hired

Agriculture faculty will be opened in those schools which have 70 students. Also, teachers will be recruited to teach agriculture subject. Experts will also be hired.

Employment oriented courses are being started

Secretary, School Education Department, Dr. Sanjay Goyal said that under the National Education Policy, employment-oriented curriculum is being started in school education. Agriculture course is also being included in this. Under this, agriculture faculty will be started in all the schools of the state. In this, students will also do practical by going to the field.
