To monitor the increasing noise pollution in Gwalior, the Pollution Control Board has installed real time noise monitoring equipment at four places in the city at a cost of Rs 2 lakh 80 thousand. Before installing this equipment, the city was divided into four zones, so that it could be known which zone was causing more noise pollution.
Horns of vehicles running on the roads, DJs playing at weddings and loud speakers are torturing your ears every day. These ear-splitting sounds are causing great harm to your ears. The data of the Pollution Control Board is revealing this truth. The department has divided the city into four zones and installed noise pollution measuring instruments, which has revealed this.
ENT experts also consider increasing noise pollution as a major threat to the ears. In fact, to monitor the increasing noise pollution in Gwalior, the Pollution Control Board has installed real time noise monitoring equipment at four places in the city at a cost of Rs 2 lakh 80 thousand. Before installing this equipment, the city was divided into four zones, so that it could be known which zone was causing more noise pollution. In this the city is divided into Silent Zone, Residential Zone, Commercial Zone and Industrial Zone.
Equipment installed one month ago
According to Rishiraj Sengar, Executive Engineer of Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board, this equipment was installed a month ago. Now its data will be monitored for 4-6 months and then it will be analyzed. In which it will be seen what is the reason for the noise. However, there is a road nearby where the equipment is installed. In such a situation, there is a possibility of noise pollution due to vehicles’ horns and equipment like DJ. Planning will be done on this after data analysis. For this, a radius of 100 meters of the installed equipment will be searched.
where and how much noise pollution
Silent Zone: The equipment has been installed at Jiwaji University. There are High Court, District Court, Collector office as well as many other educational institutions nearby in this area. For this reason it has been considered a silent zone.
What is the situation: The sound here should be 40-45 decibels. Whereas at present the average noise pollution here is 55-60 decibels.
Residential Zone: A device has been installed near DD Nagar Community Health Centre. There is a dense population here, where people reside. There is less commercial area around.
What is the situation: Noise up to 50-55 decibels is tolerable in this area. Whereas at present the average noise here is 60-65 decibels.
Commercial Zone: Maharaj Bada has been included in this and a machine has been installed here also. This is a complete commercial area and there is a lot of vehicular traffic.
What is the situation: The noise limit for this area has been set at 60-65 decibels, whereas the noise level here has been recorded at 75-80 decibels.
Industrial Zone: Maharajpura industrial area has been kept in this. Here the noise level is set at 70-75 decibels. The noise recorded here is only 65-70 decibels, which is low.
(Note:- This data is the average data of machines between 21st to 28th October)
In residential or silent zones, noise up to 55-60 decibels can be considered tolerable, if it exceeds this there is a possibility of damage to the eardrums. Although the maximum tolerance of our ears is up to 80 decibels, it also depends on sound exposure. In residential and commercial areas, the sounds of vehicle horns, loud speakers and DJs increase noise pollution the most.
