The work of updating the voter list is also going on amid the assembly by-elections in Madhya Pradesh. The process of adding new voters and removing names as per need has been done. Now claims and objections have been invited.
The number of voters in 228 assembly constituencies of Madhya Pradesh is 5, 61,38,277 (five crore 61 lakh 38 thousand 277). With the publication of the draft voter list on October 29, the work of taking claims and objections started, which will continue till November 28.
Due to by-elections in Budhni and Vijaypur assembly constituencies, the work of revision of voter list will not be done here. From February to October, names of six and a half lakh voters have been removed from the voter list, while names of 7.47 lakh eligible voters have been added. Chief Electoral Officer Sukhbir Singh gave this information on Wednesday.
1202 third gender voters in Madhya Pradesh
- While discussing with the media, he said that the draft voter list has been published in 228 assembly constituencies. In this, male voters are 2,87,82,296, female voters are 2,72,80,147 and third gender voters are 1,202.
- Service voters are 74,632, of which 72,198 are male and 2,434 are female voters. Of these, a total of 5,78,848 are disabled voters and 136 are NRIs. Thus the total number of voters is 5,61,38,277.
- A special campaign for addition, deletion and amendment of names in the voter list will be held on 9, 10, 16 and 17 November. The claims and objections will be resolved by December 24 and the final publication of the voter list will be done on January 6.

The process of adding names to the voter list, making amendments in the voter ID card and removing the names of dead voters has been started. This process will continue till November 28. On coming 9th, 10th and 16th and 17th November, a campaign will be run by organizing special camps in the entire state. BLOs will be present at all the polling stations in the state during office hours. All claims and objections received will be resolved by November 24.
Young voters will get voter ID at home
The Chief Electoral Officer said that the youth who are completing 18 years of age on January 1 can apply in advance to get their names added to the voter list. The Voter ID card of new voters will easily reach their homes through speed post.
The Election Commission of India has provided free facilities, both online and offline, for adding names to the voter list. Online application can be done through Voter Helpline App.
