Mahalakshmi temple in Indore city is the center of faith of the devotees. Devotees offer the idol in the temple as per their wish. Devotees who wish to get a house from Goddess Lakshmi offer a house here and those who wish to get a car offer the shape of a car to Mother Goddess.
Mahalakshmi Temple located at Rajbada, the heart of Indore city, has been the main center of faith of devotees for years. Here, the devotee offers a form made of clay or plastic to the Mother Goddess as per his wish. The shape of a house is presented for a house and the shape of a car is presented for a car.
Also, thousands of devotees come here on Diwali and offer yellow rice to the Mother Goddess so that happiness and prosperity resides in the house throughout the year. The forms seated here are Kamalvasini and Gaja Lakshmi. There are two elephants, symbolizing happiness and prosperity, surrounding the mother sitting on the lotus figure. The two and a half feet high statue was installed 191 years ago in 1833.
Invite mother by giving yellow rice
Bhanuprakash Dubey, the fifth generation priest of the family who is serving the Mata, says that every year on Diwali, more than 50 thousand devotees gather here to invite the Mata home by giving them yellow rice. At the same time, we offer the form as per our wish. On Diwali, one kilometer long queues of men and women form from morning till late evening.
From here, with the feeling of being with the Mother, the devotees make footprints with kum-kum and make the Mother enter the place of worship in the house. After this, worship is done at an auspicious time. Apart from this, many devotees take the rice offered to the Mother Goddess to their home for blessings and also keep it in the safe and in the store.
Devotees come from India and abroad every year
- From Navratri to Diwali, the Goddess is adorned thrice for a month. Gold jewelery and golden crowns are worn on Diwali. Chhappan Bhog is offered by decorating the flower bungalow in the temple. The system of darshan continues.
- Every year more than 50 kg of rice is collected. After this rice is given in the form of blessings, the remaining is distributed among the needy. Also, the idols of Lord Ganesha and Riddhi-Siddhi are made of black stone.
- The temple was built by Raja Harirao Holkar. At that time there was a three-storey temple which was destroyed due to fire. The temple was renovated again in 1942. After this, it was renovated and given a new look 9 years ago.
- Whenever devotees from various parts of the country and abroad come to Indore, they definitely come to see the Mother Goddess. Their number is in hundreds on Diwali. Apart from this, every day eight to 10 devotees visit Mata through video conferencing.
