According to Kamlanagar police station, a case was registered and action was taken. The maid was interrogated on the basis of suspicion. She admitted to the theft and gave information about the method of theft and where and how the stolen money was spent. On this basis, the maid, her sister and mother have been arrested.
The theft of Rs 13.5 lakh that took place at the house of former MLA Savita Diwan in Riviera Town Phase-2 last week has been exposed. MLA’s maid Tanu Sharma and her sister Palak Sharma were found accused of theft. After finding the house empty, she kept taking out the money kept in Savita Dewan’s briefcase and divided it into four parts.
The two sisters had also sent the stolen money to their mother Sona and Tanu’s boyfriend Nikhil. With this money the accused had made purchases for Diwali and Karva Chauth. When Savita returned home from Manali last week, she found Rs 13.5 lakh missing out of the Rs 15 lakh kept in her briefcase. After his complaint, Kamlanagar police station registered a case.
Tanu, Palak, their mother Sona and Tanu’s boyfriend Nikhil Patel have been arrested. All three women have been sent to jail, while Nikhil is being interrogated to recover the stolen goods. Savita Diwan and her husband used to go out for work and the accused used to steal at every opportunity.
Kamalanagar police station in-charge Nirupa Pandey said that Savita and her husband stay out of the house for many days for their work. His only daughter is married. In such a situation, he had given another key to Tanu to take care of the house. Tanu was working at their house for five months. Recently, Savita had kept a briefcase filled with Rs 15 lakh in a room.
When Tanu got this information, she opened the briefcase and stole some money. Later he told this to his sister and then both of them started stealing together. She also gave a part of the stolen money to her mother and sent some money to her lover living in Rewa.
Earlier this month, Savita had gone to Manali with her family. On returning he found that Rs 13.5 lakh were missing from the briefcase. Taking action, the police seized Rs 6 lakh 30 thousand in cash and household items worth Rs 1 lakh 70 thousand purchased with the stolen money.
