Diwali is about to come. Cleaning is going on in every house, old dust is being swept away. The roads of the city are in bad shape and clouds of dust are seen rising. The suffocating smoke of vehicles, burning stubble in villages and smoke from firecrackers around Diwali will further increase pollution.
The poisonous smoke of gunpowder from firecrackers makes the air worse. Pollution both indoors and outdoors is a problem for respiratory patients. Such patients need to be more careful these days. This is what chest and allergy specialist Dr. Tanay Joshi has to say.
Dr. Joshi was answering the readers’ questions in the program related to the changing climate and pollution caused by dust, smoke and firecrackers. Dr. Joshi said that special care should be taken about eating habits in the changing seasons. Along with this, special care needs to be taken while cleaning during Diwali. Especially those people who are allergic to smoke and dust.

Answer- Currently the weather is changing. It is hot during the day and cold at night. In such a situation, avoid using cold air and cold water. Use a mask if you go out. Stop eating and drinking outside for some time. Drink more water.
Question- I get watery nose when I come in contact with smoke, scent, incense sticks etc., what should I do? -Kailash Parmar, Rangwasa.
Answer- You are likely to have nasal allergies. Therefore stay away from contact with smoke, scents etc. Along with this, use a mask. Clean the house only wearing a mask. If such problems occur again and again, consult a chest specialist doctor. Also, do nose exercises after consulting a doctor.

Answer- Due to old age there is problem due to smoke etc. Cover your face before going on the road. In case of severe problem, consult a doctor.
Question: When we use fireworks on Diwali, the next morning the eyes become red and there is a burning sensation?-Pramod Bhargava, Indore.
Answer- This problem occurs due to direct contact with smoke. Use fireworks from a distance, do not come in direct contact with the smoke. After fireworks, wash your face with water before sleeping at night. After this, take water steam and sleep. If you still have problems, consult a doctor. Do not put anything in your eyes without doctor’s advice.
Question- Air pollution is more on Diwali. In such a situation, what precautions should a person who is already suffering from dengue and chikungunya take? -Anil Kauchale
Answer- Keep the windows and doors of the house closed in the evening. Protect yourself from mosquitoes. Use a mask to protect yourself from smoke. The weather is changing, so take care of yourself.
