Four people from Haryana were detained for allegedly stealing a bronze vessel from the famous Sri Padmanabha Swamy temple in Kerala. Police gave this information on Sunday. The traditional vessel, called “Uruli” in the local language, was used for worship and rituals in the ancient temple.

Police confirmed that the accused have been identified and taken into custody with the help of Haryana Police, but did not provide further details. A police officer said, “One of the accused is a doctor who has Australian citizenship. Last week, two-three women had gone to the Dargah with him and prayed. The crime allegedly took place on Thursday.

Sources said that as soon as the vessel went missing, temple officials informed the police, who later identified the accused through detailed examination of the CCTV footage. Later the accused were traced to Haryana and taken into custody with the help of the local police there. Sources said that the accused will be brought to Thiruvananthapuram during the day.
