An important news has come out for the retired employees of Railways. Railway Board has started a recruitment drive for 25,000 posts to overcome the staff shortage. In this recruitment drive, a new formula for temporarily re-appointing retired railway employees has been included. This recruitment is being done in various zones. If reports are to be believed, the jobs for which Railways will make temporary recruitment will be on posts ranging from supervisors to trackmen.
How to get a job again
According to India Today report, under this scheme, retired employees below 65 years of age can apply for re-appointment. These employees will be appointed for two years, which can be extended later. General Managers of all Zonal Railways have been authorized to appoint these retired employees after reviewing their medical fitness and performance of the last five years.
What are the rules for re-employment in Railways?
The employees applying should have a good rating in the confidential report in the five years preceding retirement and no vigilance or departmental action should be pending against them. After re-appointment, these employees will be paid monthly by deducting their basic pension from the last drawn salary. They will also get traveling allowance but will not be given any other benefits or salary increase.
