The central leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday announced the names of candidates for the by-elections on Vijaypur and Budhni assembly seats of Madhya Pradesh. The party has given ticket to Ramniwas Rawat from Vijaypur seat and Ramakant Bhargava from Budhni seat.
According to a press release issued by the party late in the evening, State Forest Minister Ramniwas Rawat will be the BJP candidate from Vijaypur seat in Sheopur district and former MP Bhargav will be the BJP candidate from Budhani seat.
Rawat had won the 2023 elections from Vijaypur by contesting on a Congress ticket, but after this, before the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, he joined BJP and resigned from the post of MLA. For this reason the need for by-elections arose here.
Apart from this, former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan was elected MLA from Budhni, but after being elected from Vidisha in the Lok Sabha elections, he resigned from the post of MLA. Bhargava, who has now been made the BJP candidate from Budhni, has been an MP from Vidisha seat and is considered close to Chauhan.
The work of filing nomination papers for both the assembly by-elections has started from Friday. Even on the second day of submission of nomination papers, no nomination papers were filed today. Voting in both these areas will be held on November 13.
