A new and unique experiment has been done in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh towards the safety of women employees of government hospitals, under which special ‘pink alarms’ have been installed for women here. These ‘pink alarms’ have been installed in the district hospital and medical college of the city. If a woman feels in danger in the hospital and presses the button of this alarm, the siren will sound.
Giving information about this, an official of the State Public Relations Department said that the alarm system was the initiative of District Collector Sandeep Makin and the Government Hospital of Datia is the first government hospital in the state, where this facility has been provided. He told that the purpose of installing these alarms is that if any woman in the hospital feels in danger, when she presses the button of this alarm, a loud siren will sound.
The officer said that on pressing the alarm, the siren will sound and within five minutes the security personnel will reach the person in trouble. Civil Surgeon and Hospital Superintendent Dr. KC Rathore said that these alarms have been installed in the staff duty rooms on all three floors of the maternity ward, trauma center and new OPD block.
It is written on the poster near these alarms, ‘If any woman is sexually assaulted in the hospital premises, press this switch, the alarm bell will ring and you will get immediate police help.’
The issue of safety of women employees in government hospitals has been heated since the incident of rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. After which, taking steps in this direction, the local administration has installed these alarms for the safety of women.
Earlier on August 30, Collector Datia had given instructions to install pink alarm in the hostel near Medical College, District Hospital and Medical College. He had told that for this a QRT team will be formed, which will reach the spot within 10 minutes after receiving information about the incident.
