Domestic equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty-50 are expected to open flat on Tuesday amid largely positive global cues. As Asian markets traded mixed, the US stock market closed higher overnight, with the Dow Jones closing above 43,000 points for the first time and the S&P 500 also closing at a record high.
Benchmark indices of the Indian stock market closed higher on Monday. The Sensex closed 591.69 points or 0.73 per cent higher at 81,973.05, while the Nifty 50 closed 163.70 points or 0.66 per cent higher at 25,127.95.

Asian market
Asian markets mostly traded with gains. Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 1 percent, while Topix rose 0.8 percent. South Korea’s Kospi and Kosdaq fell 0.11 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index futures indicated a higher open.

The US stock market closed higher on Monday, with the S&P 500 and the Dow both closing at record highs. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 201.36 points, or 0.47 percent, to 43,065.22, while the S&P 500 rose 44.82 points, or 0.77 percent, to 5,859.85. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 18,502.69, up 159.75 points or 0.87 percent.

There has been a huge fall in the prices of crude oil. Brent crude oil fell 2.94 per cent to $75.18 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures fell 3.07 per cent to $71.56.

India’s retail inflation hit a 9-month high in September due to higher food prices. Annual retail inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose to 5.49 percent in September, up from 3.65 percent in August.
Reliance results
Reliance Industries has reported a consolidated profit of ₹16,563 crore in the second quarter of FY2025. This is 4.7 percent less compared to the same quarter last year. Reliance Industries’ consolidated income from operations remained stable at Rs 2,35,481 crore in the second quarter.
hcl tech results
HCL Technologies has reported a net profit of ₹4,235 crore in the second quarter, which is a marginal decline of 0.5 per cent from ₹4,257 crore in the previous quarter. On quarter-on-quarter basis, the company’s revenue increased by 2.9 percent to Rs 28,862 crore from Rs 28,057 crore.
