Maa Durga immersion procession took place in Bhopal, people gathered to see the tableaux


More than 500 idols of Mother Goddess were immersed at six ghats. The process of immersion will continue on Monday also. Earlier, due to rain the tableaux had to be covered with polythene. The stage built for the moving ceremony got drenched due to rain.

Like every year, this time also the Durga Visarjan procession started from Bharat Talkies in the old city by Shri Hindu Utsav Committee. Matarani’s tableaux started arriving from 7:30 pm on Sunday evening. The moving ceremony started at 10 pm. The ceremony included more than 125 moving tableaux and statues of the Mother ranging from five to 18 feet tall.

In the moving ceremony, the court of Maa Durga, Shri Krishna Leela event, Ram temple of Ayodhya and other attractive tableaus enthralled the people. More than 500 idols of Mother Goddess were immersed at six ghats including Khatlapura, Prempura, Sehore Naka, Hathakheda. The process of immersion will continue on Monday also. Earlier, due to rain the tableaux had to be covered with polythene. The stage built for the moving ceremony got drenched due to rain. This also caused delay in starting the moving ceremony.

Came out to the arena, showed tricks

Shri Hindu Utsav Committee President Santosh Sahu said that this time the moving ceremony was taken out from the changed route Bharat Talkies. In this, devotees were dancing on drums, band and strings, and chants of Mata Rani were echoing. Artists from Akharas were performing tricks at various places. The moving ceremony included over 150 sculptures and moving tableaux.

-Meanwhile, the crane machine broke down during immersion at Bhadbhada Ghat. In such a situation, the idols of Maa Durga ji were immersed with the help of devotees. After some time the crane machine was improved. After this the process of immersing the idols could begin again.

The process of immersion continued with the beating of drums. More than 150 divers have been deployed in shifts of eight hours each for safe immersion of the idols at the immersion ghats. It was through these that the idols were immersed. People are not being allowed to reach near water. Along with this, the pond is also being cleaned immediately. By Sunday the number of immersed idols will reach more than 1500.
