Baba Siddiqui received death threat 15 days ago, was given Y category security

Some more information has come to light regarding the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddiqui. It is learned that he had received death threats 15 days ago. According to the police, taking this threat seriously, Siddiqui’s security was increased to Y category. Despite this, the attackers were successful in targeting him. Now questions are being raised on the security level regarding this matter. It is known that on Saturday night, a former Maharashtra minister was shot in Nirmal Nagar, Bandra East. At the time of the incident, he was coming out of the office of his MLA son Zeeshan Siddiqui. Immediately after the attack, Baba Siddiqui, who was injured by the bullet, was taken to Lilavati Hospital, where he died.

On Baba Siddiqui murder, advocate Ujjwal Nikam said, ‘This is a very unfortunate incident. No political leader had been murdered in Mumbai for many years. The biggest question is why did the murder happen and who did it? There is no doubt that 2 suspects were caught by the mob on the spot and I understand that the third attacker fled the spot. It seems that Baba Siddiqui was given threats 10 to 15 days ago and hence the police gave him security. Now I don’t know whether those threats have any connection with yesterday’s incident or not. I am sure Mumbai Crime Branch will definitely find out. I don’t think there is any failure of the state machinery in this.

‘The attackers had already received money for the work’

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Nirmal Nagar police station regarding Baba Siddiqui murder case. Crime Registration No. 589/2024, Sections 103(1), 109, 125 and 3(5) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) as well as Sections 3, 25, 5, 27 of the Arms Act and Section 37 of the Maharashtra Police Act. Case registered under 137. Mumbai Crime Branch gave this information. At present, senior officers of the Crime Branch are interrogating both the arrested accused. Police said, ‘The accused were paid in advance for this work. He had received the delivery of weapons just a few days ago.
