No matter what Taiwan says, unification will continue; China bluntly

China has once again given a strong message to Taiwan in clear words. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te’s statements would not stop China’s unification. Ning echoed Lai’s speech on Thursday, saying there should be no occupation or encroachment on Taiwan’s sovereignty. There is only one China in the world. Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory. The Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal government representing all of China.

Mao Ning said that it does not matter what they say or do. Lai Ching-Te authorities cannot change the fact that both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to the same China. “Efforts to seek independence and provocations will lead nowhere,” Ning said. The spokesman said Lai had deliberately sown a rift in the historic ties between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait for personal political gain, further escalating tensions in the region.

There is only one China in the world, said Mao Ning

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that there is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inseparable part of China. The Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing all of China. He also reiterated China’s firm opposition to any official contacts between Taiwan and the countries that maintain diplomatic relations with Beijing. It is noteworthy that the situation around Taiwan has become quite tense since the visit of the then Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, to the island in early August 2022.
