Major accident in Chhattisgarh, earthen tunnel caved in; Two laborers buried under debris die


A major accident has occurred in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh. Two villagers have died while extracting soil here. The accident occurred when a part of the soil collapsed while extracting soil. Police gave this information on Thursday. A police officer said the incident occurred on Wednesday near Jamdara village under Kunni police station when the victims were digging white soil (untouched soil).

According to preliminary information, the victims have been identified as Hiraman Yadav and Shiva Yadav. They were digging soil with some other villagers when a portion of the soil collapsed, burying them under the debris. He told that both of them died on the spot. The official said that the local people had been digging soil at the spot for a long time and it had taken the form of a tunnel, which collapsed.

The officer said that after receiving information about the incident, a police team reached the spot and recovered the bodies. The bodies were sent for post-mortem and further investigation into the incident is underway. According to the information, both the workers entered inside the tunnel-like mine and started digging soil. During this time, an accident happened and soil fell on him due to which he died on the spot.

According to the report, police officials said that after the incident the people present there raised an alarm. After which the villagers reached there and pulled both of them out of the debris but by then both of them had died. Villagers said that where the accident took place, people often collect untouched soil. Due to continuous digging of soil, a tunnel was formed there. Due to which two laborers fell asleep.
