Announcement of additional holiday on Durga Puja

Bangladesh government announced additional holidays for Durga Puja festival in the country. The additional holiday was announced after the minority group issued an 8-point demand. Abul Kalam Azad, Deputy Press Secretary to Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, told ‘ANI’ that traditionally there was one day holiday in Bangladesh for Durga Puja, but this time there will be two public holidays and it will be added to the two days of the weekend. , So overall, Hindus in Bangladesh will get four days of holidays on the occasion of Durga Puja.

Compensation also announced

He further explained that the additional leave will be implemented through an executive order to be issued today. “The government has decided to provide compensation to the people affected by the recent attacks following the August 5 coup in Bangladesh,” Azad said. Dhaka residents are optimistic for the puja celebrations. He said all law enforcement agencies have ensured that no accidents take place during the puja. He said coordination is being seen with the army chiefs, who are already conveying messages to ensure security at all levels such as police stations and regional levels. A local resident said, “We hope that the government, law enforcement agents and all political parties will also come to work as volunteers in the puja.”

Control rooms opening for security during Durga Puja

To prevent any untoward incident during Durga Puja, the Government of Bangladesh decided to set up a control room. Only through this the security of Durga Puja will be ensured. An official statement issued on Thursday said that the control room will operate from October 10 to 14 in room number 1424 on the 14th floor of Building 6. A senior assistant secretary has been given the charge of the control room. Along with this, people have been urged to inform on the given number if the law and order situation deteriorates in any way during the Puja festival.

Mohammad Yunus also wished Durga Puja

Bangladesh Government Chief Mohammad Yunus has also extended best wishes for Durga Puja. In a message, he said, “I extend my hearty greetings to all Hindu citizens of the country on the occasion of Durga Puja, the major religious festival of the Hindu community.” He said that Durga Puja is not only a festival of the Hindu community, but it has now become a universal festival. He further said, “Our Constitution guarantees equal rights to people of all religions and castes.” He said, “This country belongs to all of us. This country is a safe haven for all people irrespective of caste and religion.”
