Tiger found dead in Burhanpur forest, estimated to have died 2-3 days ago

A tiger has been found dead in Burhanpur, it is estimated that it died 2 to 3 days ago. The Forest Department is busy investigating.

The tiger was found dead in the forest of South Hasanpura in Nepanagar forest range of Burhanpur forest division. The tiger died two to three days ago. Local people informed the forest department about the death of the tiger, after which the forest department staff including Burhanpur forest divisional officer, Nepanagar ranger reached the spot. Searching is being done in the forest with the help of drones. Doug Scott’s assistance is also being sought.

The tiger was seven-eight years old

As per protocol on Saturday, a panel of eight doctors conducted the post-mortem of the tiger’s body. However, the facts of the post mortem report could not be revealed till late evening. According to officials, the dead tiger was male and aged between seven and eight years.

DFO Vijay Singh has denied the possibility of tiger poaching. They say that while hunting, hunters take out his toe nails, mustache hair, teeth etc. All the body parts of this tiger are safe. The tiger is estimated to have died three to four days ago.

On the other hand, experts have expressed the possibility of the tiger dying due to hunger. The reason behind this is said to be that the main food of the tiger in Nepanagar area is not chital, deer etc. However, the real reason will be revealed only after the post mortem report is received.

Tigers come from Melghat Tiger Reserve

According to forest department officials, there are no tigers in the forests of Burhanpur district, but due to its proximity to Melghat Tiger Reserve of Maharashtra, tigers migrate from there to Burhanpur. Last year also, another tiger was found dead in Nepanagar forest park.

Apart from this, last week villagers in Jambupani of Khaknar area had also complained about the presence of tiger and hunting of cattle. Even in Nepanagar area, villagers had been complaining for a long time about sighting of tigers around the villages and hunting of domesticated cattle. The forest department was continuously running search operations, but it did not find pug marks anywhere.

Took help from dog squad also

On Saturday, apart from DFO Vijay Singh, officers including SDO Forest Mansingh Kharadi, Ranger Shriram Pandey had reached the forest. The forest staff searched the surrounding forest with a drone, but did not find anything. Apart from this, dog squad was also called.
