Hezbollah chief killed in Israeli airstrike has been temporarily buried. According to sources close to Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah was buried in a secret location on Friday. The organization feared that if there was a public burial, Israel could target people attending the large funeral. After killing Hassan Nasrallah in an airstrike on September 27, Israel has been continuously carrying out attacks in Lebanon.
According to a report published in Arab News, Nasrallah has been buried at a temporary site until the circumstances become normal. As soon as the ongoing war with Israel reaches a conclusion, Nasallah will be buried with full honors in a public funeral procession.
America was demanded to stop Israel till the last rites
According to the report, Hezbollah was preparing to bury Nasrallah with honors during a large public ceremony. But this program was not possible during the ongoing Israeli bombardment of Lebanon. In order to ensure Nasrallah’s funeral was held with dignity, Hezbollah, through Lebanese officials, demanded from the United States a guarantee that Israel would not launch any attacks during the funeral. The United States refused to provide any such guarantees, after which Hezbollah’s current leadership decided to temporarily bury Nasrallah.
Nasrallah was waiting for the last rites for a week
Hezbollah chief Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike last week on September 27. For a week, Hezbollah was making arrangements to bury Nasrallah, but amidst the ongoing bombing by Israel, the organization’s biggest fear was that if Nasrallah was cremated on a large scale, millions of his supporters would be able to catch a glimpse of him. They will come on the streets to watch and in such a situation the Israeli Air Force can easily attack them all. Therefore, it was decided to temporarily bury Nasrallah, who follows the Shia sect of Islam, using Shia Muslim rituals.
Shia Muslim customs provide for temporary burial when a proper funeral cannot be performed in a particular situation or the person cannot be buried as per his wishes.
