PM Surya Ghar Yojana was launched by the Central Government on 29 February 2024. Under the scheme, a subsidy of Rs 78 thousand is being given for installing solar panels of 3 to 10 kilowatts. Subsidy of Rs 30 thousand is available on one kilowatt and Rs 60 thousand on two kilowatt.
Since the launch of PM Surya Ghar Yojana, people are showing great interest in getting solar panels installed. After this scheme started in February, in just six months, 15 thousand 142 people of the state have got panels installed. Among these, Central Region Electricity Distribution Company has connected maximum nine thousand consumers to the scheme.
Among these, maximum 2500 houses in Bhopal are generating electricity from panels. Now consumers are also adopting it as an alternative to expensive electricity. Let us tell you that people are being encouraged for this by running a campaign by all the three electricity companies of the state. If this trend continues, within a few months more than 40 MW of electricity will start being generated from the sun in the state.

A 25 year contract is being signed between the farmer and the company. Central Region Electricity Distribution Company has identified one thousand 456 locations. With their installation, about three thousand 345 MW solar energy can be generated.
