Reminded me of my mother… When Neeraj Chopra fed PM Modi churma made by his mother’s hands

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a letter to the mother of two-time Olympic medalist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra. He has told that during his visit to Jamaica, he met Neeraj, where he fed him churma made by his mother. This gift reminded me of my mother.

In his letter addressed to Neeraj Chopra’s mother Saroj Devi, Prime Minister Modi said, “Regards, hope you are healthy, safe and happy.” Had the opportunity to meet brother Neeraj at a banquet organized in Jamaica yesterday. While discussing with him, my happiness increased further when he gave me delicious churma made by his hands. After eating this churma today, I could not stop myself from writing a letter to you. Brother Neeraj often mentions this churma to me, but today I got emotional after eating it. This gift of your immense love and affection reminded me of my mother.”

PM Modi further said in his letter that mother is the embodiment of strength, affection and dedication. It is a coincidence that I received this Prasad from Mother a day before the Navratri festival. I fast for these nine days during Navratri. In a way, this churma of yours has become my main food before my fast. Just as the food prepared by you gives energy to brother Neeraj to win a medal for the country, similarly this churma will give me the strength to serve the nation for the next nine days. On this occasion of Shakti Parv Navratri, I along with you assure the mother power of the country that I will continue to work with more spirit of service to realize the resolve of a developed India.
