The game of changing names of government schemes is going on in Chhattisgarh. The Chhattisgarh government led by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai changed the names of two urban governance schemes which were earlier associated with Rajiv Gandhi’s name. An order in this regard was passed by the Urban Administration Department on September 18.
As per the order issued by UAD, Rajiv Gandhi Swavalamban Yojana will now be known as Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swavalamban Yojana, while Rajiv Gandhi Livelihood Center Scheme has been renamed as Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Livelihood Center Scheme. This decision to change the name has come amid the ongoing political debate regarding naming of government schemes in Chhattisgarh.
After the change of BJP government in 2018, efforts by the Congress government to change the name are continuing. The previous Congress government had changed the names of about half a dozen schemes after coming to power in 2018 and now the BJP government is reversing those changes.
BJP leaders believe that Congress itself has changed the names of the schemes and now they are restoring it. At the same time, Congress believes that BJP is not doing anything for the people except changing the names of the schemes.
Congress spokesperson in Chhattisgarh, RP Singh said that this is the petty mentality of the government. They are not doing anything for the people of the state and are only changing the name. Everyone knows what Rajiv Gandhi has done for this country. The government should tell the people what Deendayal Upadhyay has done for the people of this country.
Meanwhile, BJP leader and spokesperson Sachchidananda Upasane said the problem of the Congress is that they cannot see beyond the Gandhi family. He said, “This is the main problem of Congress that they could not see beyond Gandhism. Our government is working on the principles of some people who gave everything for the country but the Gandhi family never recognized them. Upasane said that it is our Prime Minister who is giving the coming generations their rightful place in history.
