A unique group of beggars has been caught in Indore, whose members used to beg on the streets during the day and rest in hotels at night. After which this group of 22 people, including 11 minor children, who were begging at different places in the city, have been sent to their native place in Rajasthan. An official of the Women and Child Development Department gave information about this on Wednesday.
The official said that investigation was conducted on the basis of a complaint received on Tuesday and it was found that a group of 22 people from Rajasthan had come to Indore to beg and they were staying in a hotel. He said, ‘This group included 11 minor children and 11 women. These people would beg at different places in the city throughout the day and would come to the hotel and sleep at night.
The official said that the people of this group have been pacified and sent to their native place in Rajasthan. He said that the operators of all the hotels, lodges and other staying places in the city have been instructed not to allow people begging to stay, otherwise legal action will be taken against them.
The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has started a pilot project to make 10 cities of the country, including Indore, free from begging. In Indore, the administration has imposed a ban on begging.
Millionaire beggar was caught in Indore in February
Earlier in February this year, when a campaign was launched to make Indore beggar-free, a woman beggar was caught who used to beg along with her two children. She used to beg at Lavkush intersection on Ujjain Road. He said that he had earned two and a half lakh rupees by begging at the crossroads in two and a half months and he had sent one lakh rupees to his in-laws. During interrogation, the woman had also revealed that she had many assets. He had told that he also has a land, a two-storey house, a bike and a smartphone worth Rs 20 thousand. This woman also told that her home is in Rajasthan.
