When will Maharashtra Assembly elections be held, Chief Election Commissioner answered

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar expressed his views on the speculations regarding the date of Maharashtra Assembly elections. Speaking to media persons, Rajiv Kumar said that political parties have also asked the Election Commission to announce the assembly elections keeping in mind the festivals like Diwali. He is currently on a tour of the state for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.

During the press conference, he said that we have met the leaders of national and regional parties here. Apart from this, he also met the police and other people. All of them asked us to also consider the timing of festivals like Diwali, Chhath Puja and Dev before announcing elections. We will take care of these things. He said that the tenure of the current Maharashtra Assembly is ending on November 26, so we will also have to complete the election process before that time.

There are 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra. The tenure of the Assembly ends on 26 November. Therefore the election process will have to be completed before this time. The total voters in Maharashtra are around 9.56 crore. This time the number of young voters who became eligible to vote for the first time is 19.48 lakh. The Chief Election Commissioner, who reached Mumbai to take stock of the preparations for the Assembly, along with his two fellow officials held a review meeting with top officials of Maharashtra.

This time the circumstances have changed a lot since the last assembly elections in Maharashtra. There was no split between the two big regional parties in the last assembly elections. After the elections, there was a fight between BJP and Shiv Sena over the post of Chief Minister, which contested the assembly elections together, due to which both parted ways. Uddhav Thackeray became the Chief Minister of the state in alliance with Sharad Pawar’s NCP and Congress. Meanwhile, a stir increased when NCP’s Ajit Pawar broke the party and joined BJP and formed a coalition government, but its lifespan did not last long and Fadnavis had to resign. Later, with the support of NCP, Uddhav became the Chief Minister.

After Uddhav became the Chief Minister, everything went well for some time but later there was a split in Shiv Sena itself. Shiv Sena MLAs joined BJP under the leadership of Eknath Shinde. Along with the government, the party also lost Uddhav’s hands. Eknath Shinde formed the government with BJP and became the Chief Minister. After a few months, Ajit Pawar also broke the NCP and became a part of this alliance and once again became the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Now the fight in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections is between Mahavikas Aghadi and Mahayuti alliance.
