In the match which started late due to rain at Lord’s Stadium, Australia won the toss and chose to bowl, but the English team proved captain Mitchell Marsh’s decision wrong by scoring 312 runs for 5 wickets in 39 overs. Then England all out the Kangaroo team for 126 runs. The match was played for 39-39 overs. Harry Brook was named player of the match. He played an innings of 87 runs in 58 balls.
Ben Duckett’s Fifty, Balance Start with Salt
English openers Phil Salt and Ben Duckett gave a balanced start to England. Both of them made an opening partnership of 48 runs. Here Phil Salt was out after scoring 48 runs. He was caught by Josh Hazlewood at the hands of Marnus Labuschagne. The second opener Ben Duckett played an innings of 63 runs on 62 balls.
Duckett-Brook’s fifty partnership, Brook’s captaincy innings
After losing the first wicket for 48 runs, Will Jacques was out after scoring 10 runs. Mitchell Marsh sent him to the pavilion. Captain Harry Brook, who came to play at number-4 after Jacques’s dismissal, played an innings of 87 runs on 58 balls with the help of 11 fours and one six. He made a partnership of 79 runs on 53 balls with Duckett. This partnership was broken by Adam Zampa. He sent Ben Duckett to the pavilion.

Livingstone and Bethel made the score cross 300
After the dismissal of Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone and Jacob Bethall took the English team’s score to 312 runs. Both of them made a partnership of 71 runs on 42 balls for the sixth wicket. Livingstone scored unbeaten 62 off 27 balls and Bethal scored 12 runs off 19 balls.

For Australia, spinner Adam Zampa got 2 wickets, while Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell got one wicket each.
Great start for Australia, half-century partnership between the openers
